Cutting Edge

The autobiography of Adam Copeland 'On Edge' is a look at the rise of one of the most popular wrestlers in the business today .

As he is only in his early thirties the main part of the book informs the reader of his life growing up in a single parent up bringing in Toronto and how, as a child, wrestling became part of his life and eventually lead him to sign for the biggest wrestling company of all, the WWE.

The rise to the WWE contract seems to be inspired by watching Wrestlemania VI in the Toronto Skydome with his friend, Jay Reso (Christian Cage). Eventually, Copeland wins a writing competition that gave him free wretling tuition as the first prize and his journey begins.

As a professional, Edge recalls the long winter tours throughout Canada leading to being brought to Bret Hart's house to prove himself and prepare to be brought to the WWE TV tapings.

The latter part of the book details the first five years in the federation and recalls the important matches of Adam Copeland's career and then ends with him sitting out for over a year due to career saving neck surgery.

I wasn't really impressed with the book as I had heard and read a lot of the how he became Edge through many media intervews over the years. It seems a lot of the WWE autobiographies being published nowadays are ghost written reworks of these said interviews (even though Copeland states that he wrote this book all by himself).

One other key thing about the book is that I hadn't bothered reading it when I first bought it in January 2005 and he constantly mentions how winning the world title is his number one priority.

He has since won the belt so therefore I was witness to an unwritten final chapter before I had even picked up the book!
