Breakfast For A Little Champ (And Then For A Bigger One)

A few days ago, I was speaking with my family about our holiday to Bulgaria forty years ago. I was relatively young at the time, but have been able to recollect some random memories from that fortnight.

One of which was the breakfasts we had at the hotel. I remember them because they had what I must call a breakfast for a little champ.

I loved the fact that, on the trays of food available to select - buffet style - was cake. That was my go to dish every morning after realising I could eat cake for breakfast. And it was okay to do so in Bulgaria.

So, yeah - the memories of that holiday revolve around the cake. I have tried to use Google to find what the actual thing is (was?) but cannot find any evidence of it. I remember it had a sprinkle of something green on top of it. Like a chive, but obviously not that.

I surmise we're either hovering at the forty year anniversary of that trip or are a few weeks removed from it. I celebrated the memory by having my own slice of cake for yesterday's breakfast.

Slice of Daim Cake

There was a reason behind the madness, however.

I was too busy to have a slice of  Daim Cake on Sunday evening when everybody else was eating theirs. I kept mine back for yesterday evening. Well - that plan turned out to be cancelled out when I was deciding what to have for a late breakfast (first thing I did when I woke up was feed Oreo and then watch the Sunday Night Football NFL game). The idea then hit me.

Be like the Bulgarians... have cake for breakfast!

So I did.

Daim Cake

I like Daim Bars, so this cake was perfect for me. It had a caramel sauce alongside the little bits of Daim.

Well worth checking out, if I say so myself.
