I placed a bet on the Pat McAfee versus Gunther match which took place at WWE Backlash 2025 last night.
The selection I chose was on the former, who was a 6/1 underdog.
I found the price to be appealing because the story was about an underdog overcoming a bully. There had also been reports that Goldberg could be on his way back to WWE and - considering the last time we saw him he had been verbally upset by Gunther - I thought there could be a chance of McAfee getting an assist to a fluke win.
Even though I had a gamble, I was not fully confident. It needed a lot to work in my favour.
By match time, I was convinced the bet had a strong chance of winning. The thing which swayed it completely was the fact that the contest was being sponsored by the new Karate Kid movie - Karate Kid Legends. I figured that there is no way a movie and TV franchise - all about underdogs overcoming bullies - would have its name associated with a wrestling match which saw a bully overcome.
Well - it sounded good on paper. Gunther won. McAfee lost.
And so did my wager.
