Dying To Be The Champ

I was reading an online newspaper the other day and found a story about one of the competitors in the World Sauna Championship that had died after being exposed to 110°C of heat.

Firstly, who would want to put themselves through this kind of thing?

Secondly, how many people watch this for sport?

It's puzzling.

There used to be a sauna in the complex where my parents owned an apartment in Tenerife and I must have been in one three times at most and even then I probably only lasted a few minutes.

It was too hot for me so I cannot even think how hot it must have been for the competitors trying to become the world champion by putting themselves through all that.

The championship has now been suspended whilst the Finnish police investigate the death of the runner-up.

The champion is currently in hospital after his win, as well.

Crazy, crazy people.
