New York, New York

In the special features of the McMahon DVD there is a segment dedicated to the episode of Smackdown that aired two days after the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

Vince McMahon claims that this show was the first live gathering of a spectator sport after the devastating day.

When he was deciding on whether to go ahead with the episode he found inspiration in words from George W Bush's speech about America not giving in to the terorism and going back to their normal routine.

McMahon opened the show inside the ring claiming the country would bounce back from the tragedies and then dedicated the entire Smackdown with all the stars speaking of their sorrow to the families involved with the attacks.

Many people criticised some of the comments made by the wrestlers. Stephanie McMahon, very naively, likened the strength of America and how resilient it could be to the situatin in 1994 when her father was found not guilty by a federal court on grounds of steroid distibution.

Tomorrow night the WWE will once again make news regarding the 9/11 attacks as they return to their home base of Madison Square Garden on the five year anniversary.

If people think that the return to MSG is coincidence then they must bear in mind the company hasn't held an event there since Wrestlmania XX in 2004.

Is this Vince McMahon's way of gaining attention on his company or is it really a sign that the people of America are not going to sit in fear anymore?

I know what I would like to think.

But what do I know?
