As a Welsh lad, I was maybe somewhat biased, but always enjoyed seeing Davies on my TV while I was growing up.
I was too young to enjoy It Ain't Half Hot Mum, which is what he will likely be most remembered for in all of the obituaries that will surely be written today. I do remember his voice in the puppet series - Terrahawks. What I do remember the most about him - though - is his role in Never The Twain.
I cannot recall which year it was, but I also recall seeing him in pantomime back when I was a child. I also have his autograph. He sent it to me when I was a child.
Coincidentally, I looked Davies up recently. I read that he was living in France after retiring.
