I have watched the first couple of episodes of Siberia, which airs on Pick and I'm unsure whether I'll give up on it or not.
The idea is great. It's just that I find something in it a turn-off.
If you haven't heard of it, it's a drama series that pretends to be a reality show where a band of people are put together to live in the middle of Siberia.
On the initial episode, one of the contestants ends up getting himself killed and I'm guessing that by the latter part of the series a few more will end up becoming fatalities.
The only reason why I was interested in seeing it is because it stars Esther Anderson from Home & Away. It's because of her that I probably don't like it as much.
And here's why.
With the gimmick of the show being that we're supposed to allow ourselves to believe that we're watching 'reality' rather than 'drama', it sort of ruins it for me knowing that she is an actress.
I don't even know if my point makes sense, but that's how I feel.
I might give it a few more weeks. I might start getting into it. Even if I don't - I take nothing away from the concept. It is a superb idea.
