Thoughts On Gotham

In what will not be that much of a surprise to people who know me, I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of Gotham which premiered on television in the UK on Monday night.

This was the television series I had been eagerly anticipating since I first heard it was being produced earlier this year, so am glad that I liked it.

Episode one did a superb job introducing the characters and hinting at the ones who grow up to become Batman's foes in the future.

As the series is based on the rise of Jim Gordon from detective to police commissioner of Gotham City, it's unlikely we'll see people like Poison Ivy and Catwoman go on to cause him any trouble.

We certainly won't be seeing Batman.

However, The Penguin could end up becoming a regular villain judging by how the debut episode played out.

I feel spoiled now. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will be returning to Channel 4 for season two soon, Arrow season 3 starts back up in a fortnight and The Flash airs its first episode two days before that.

I'm going to be overdosing on comic book themed TV.

And that's fine by me.
