Looking Forward To Gotham

There's a new US television series coming out in the Autumn that I am hoping will make it to British screens.

It's based on Batman but will have nothing to do with the Caped Crusader.

Well, 'nothing to do with the Caped Crusader' is the wrong sentence to use. Read on.

Gotham - as it is titled - will be set around the time when Bruce Wayne's father and mother are murdered in a botched mugging. The main character in it will be Jim Gordon who, as anybody who has seen or read anything to do with Batman, eventually rises to the role of commissioner.

Gordon will start of as a rookie in the programme, though.

I have seen the trailer and they even have characters before they become their aliases. From what I recall from the commercial - the people who later turn in to Catwoman (Selina Kyle), The Riddler (Edward Nygma) and Poison Ivy (Pamela Lillian Isley) will feature in some episodes.

Another DC Comics television series - Arrow - has become one of my favourite things on television. If Gotham is anything close to it, I'm sure I'll love it.

The series is going to be on Fox in the US. I hope it ends up on Sky 1 as we still don't have Sky Atlantic with Virgin Media.
