Roland Alexander

Roland Alexander, founder and owner of All Pro Wrestling, passed away on Tuesday following complications stemming from heart and diabetes issues.

If you have ever seen the wrestling documentary movie, Beyond The Mat, you may recall Alexander as the wrestling school manager who also ran shows in the California area.

One of the key moments in the film showed Roland bringing his two top students, Michael Modest and Tony Jones, to a tryout with the World Wrestling Federation.

It was one of the most interesting parts of the film.

Back then, it was unusual for fans to know what went on behind the scenes at television taping so these scenes peeled the curtain back a little further to those interested in how the business works.

His appearance in the documentary led to a number of sign-ups to the  APW Boot Camp. The Boot Camp must have been popular as the company had been running these sessions for years.

The promotion will be hosting a Gym Wars event in Alexander's memory at its APW Garage tonight.
