My Thoughts On Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. After The Pilot

I finally managed to get around to watching the first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. which started on Channel 4 last week.

As I have mentioned on here in the past, I used to be a hardcore comic book fan but still keep up with the Marvel Universe via the Hollywood films that the company brings out.

I wasn't that much of a follower of The Avengers comic but have seen the movie so was interested to see the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television programme advertised.

Only one episode has aired in this country. I didn't hate it. However, there were too many characters  at first so it's one of those series' where you have to settle in slowly.

One of the most interesting things about it is that Agent Coulson - who appeared in Iron Man, Thor and Avengers Assemble - is the lead character. Coulson was killed in The Avengers movie and they explained it in the series as the organisation faked the death so as to encourage The Avengers to work together in the 'Battle of New York'.

I need to go back and watch the movie to see if it seemed like a genuine story arc or one the TV producers made up for their own good just so the character could be used in the series.

I've read that Samuel L. Jackson makes a brief appearance in an upcoming episode and have also heard that ratings have been dropping. That's a worrying sign because you know how the executives work in the USA. They're too quick to pull the plug.

I hope the series gets enough time to mature. I'm giving it time to get used to the characters. I don't want it to end up like Terra Nova where I spend an hour or so each week following a series only for it to be cancelled after one season.
