Ideas For The Star Wars Spin-Off Movies

I read an article about the new Star Wars movies on the Virgin Media website the other day. It echoed my feelings on how Disney are going to go overboard with all the spin-off movies in between the regular trilogy that is set to be released in 2015.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited about the prospect of a new trilogy that takes place after Return of the Jedi, I'm just not so keen on the extra films that are going to be sandwiched in between them.

The article joked that we could find out where Han Solo got his leather waistcoat in a spin-off backstory to Harrison Ford's famous character.

I'd rather not see a film about him, though.

A Yoda story was also noted as a possibility. With CGI and 3D being in the in-thing right now, I would make a large bet that a Yoda feature film will be made before anything else.

I have my own ideas on what I'd like to see made.

First, I would like a movie of the novel, Death Star, created.

I read this book a number of years ago and it stuck me as being one of the best in the Star Wars canon of literature that I have read.

The story centres on the people who worked on the original Death Star. Without giving too much away, everything that happens on the Death Star in A New Hope is going on in the background in this story. It was such a brilliant idea by the authors Michael Reaves & Steve Perr.

What about bowing down to the fans and giving them a decent Bobba Fett movie?

Attack of the Clones told the backstory from when he was a child and a newer film could look at how he developed before the events of The Empire Strikes Back.

How about a gangster movie with Jabba the Hutt as the mob boss?

My favourite idea that came to me is a mockumentary like This is Spinal Tap. This time, however, the title could be This is the Cantina Band.

That'll sell tickets.
