I wasn't alive during the height of Mick McManus' wrestling career. That's not to say I hadn't heard about it, though.
He was television's most famous wrestler at a time when satellite and cable TV were things of the future. Hell, even Channel 4 was still a long way off.
I grew up during the days of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks. I believed that these two behemoths were household names.
And they were.
It's just that McManus was there first.
