Will WrestleMania Lose Its Swagger?

If winning the opportunity to be in a world title match at WrestleMania XXIX was a career highlight for Jack Swagger, an arrest two days later must have been a low for Jake Hager.

Hager was stopped by Mississippi police and charged with driving under the influence, speeding and possession of marijuana.

This arrest comes at the most inopportune time for the wrestler and his employers as they had just repackaged him in preparation for an anti-immigration storyline that was beginning to gain some media attention (I guess not for the right reason but controversy creates cash, right?).

It is still unclear whether Swagger will wrestle on April 7th. The precedence doesn't look good for him, though.

The last time a key performer was arrested for possession of marijuana was Rob Van Dam in 2006. At that time, he held both the WWE and ECW world championships  Immediately after his arrest, he dropped both titles before being sent on a thirty-day suspension.

The person I feel sorry for the most in this entire situation is Swagger's new manager - Zeb Colter.

Coltter - the former Dutch Mantel - was brought back to World Wrestling Entertainment to specifically take part in this cutting edge angle.

It's bad enough that Colter may have to go if this storyline is scrapped. However, there is an even more stirring side to this story.

Mantel lost a granddaughter in a crash with an intoxicated driver during the latter part of 2012 which must put him in an awful position right about now.

We'll get a better idea of what is going to happen after tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw.
