The First Sunday Without NFL

Just before Christmas, my friend was visiting and he asked me what I was going to do when the NFL season was over.

He often asks me this question near the season end because he knows that football Sundays are my favourite days of the year.

Back in December, I joked 'I'll start watching basketball'.

The joke became a possibility two weeks ago when Sky Sports entered into a deal with the National Basketball Association and started airing live NBA games on a Sunday evening.

So, there I was at 6pm last night with nothing to do. I tuned in.

I lasted ten minutes.

I don't know anything about the teams and - to be blunt - I don't really want to.

It's not for me.

I'm not even missing the NFL as much I usually would around this time, anyway.

I think I was all NFL'd out by the time the most recent season was nearing its end.

Had I been missing it, I would have been checking the calendar to see what date the draft is and then work out how many weeks until the preseason games begin.

When I start doing that, that will be when I want the NFL back.
