Garbage Pail Kids By Topps

Front cover
If you're someone who grew up in the 1980's, you more than likely remember Garbage Pail Kids trading cards.

These cards were released as a parody of the Cabbage Patch Kids cuddly toys that came out a short time earlier.

I recall buying these cards - that came with a stick of bubblegum - nearly every morning of my early junior school days.

The reason why I am writing about the cards today is due to the fact that Topps, the company that released the cards, has brought out a book with the artwork from the first six series' of the cards.

*See what I mean?
Turning each page turned into a game of 'I had that one' or laughing at how politically incorrect they would be in today's society.*

There is an introduction by Art Spiegelman. He was one of the men behind the idea  The book also has an afterword by John Pound who painted the earlier versions of the cards.

Bonus stickers are included on the inside of the back cover . I didn't open the see-through packet they came in so I'm unsure how many there are. The character at the top of the small pile is named 'Hole in Juan'.

I'd recommend this book to people who grew up collecting the cards or have an interest in 1980's American pop culture.
