I've set myself the task of finally converting all my VHS video cassettes to DVD.
It's a task that has already caused me to have a few headaches.
Firstly, I bought a USB capture card that didn't work with Windows 7. It was also apparently a fake Japanese version of the real device (something I wasn't aware of until I did some Googling about possible incompatibility issues with Windows 7 drivers).
I ended up purchasing a £20 USB device and software. I noticed there was some popping in the audio so was trying to find ways around that only to realise - after days of messing with the settings - that the noise was coming from the old VCR I was using!
Another annoying thing that I have experienced is the size of the finished file.
As most of my videos are three hour WWE or WCW pay-per-views, I have to ensure the file will fit on a DVD. The quality is absolutely rubbish if I try it on a low setting so I've decided to invest in some dual layer DVDs to ensure everything works out well.
At the moment - it's a game of trial and error.
With a lot of the latter.
I have mountains of video cassettes to get through, so my mission will not be complete for a long time.
I'll probably give an update on how things are going in the future.
