Just thought I would make a quick acknowledgement to a wrestling legend who passed away recently.
Chief Jay Strongbow - real name Joe Scarpa - died on April 3rd. He was eighty-three years old.
As you would expect from both our ages, I did not see him wrestle when he was an active competitor. That's not to say I didn't know of him.
I met Strongbow in December of 1993 when I went to the hotel the WWF wrestlers were staying during one of their many UK tours.
He was working as a road agent for the company back then. I had read about his career in the WWF Magazine a number of months before so - when I noticed him - I decided to approach him. I did so and asked for a photograph. He obliged.
