Bears @ Bucs @ Wembley?

In yesterday's post, I speculated on which NFL game will be played on the opening day of the 2011 regular season. I also noted that the Chicago Bears will face-off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley Stadium in the middle of the season.

This will be the first time that the Chicago Bears have played a regular season game at Wembley Stadium. However, it will not be the first time a Chicago Bears team has been in a Wembley match-up as the team played a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys in the mid-1980s.

Tampa Bay will become the first team to have played two regular season games in London if - and that is a big if - the game goes ahead.

The Bucs last played on British soil in 2009 losing to the New England Patriots.

With the season still in jeopardy, this game could be moved to Tampa Bay's home - The Raymond James Stadium - should the team owners and players still be at loggerheads on the August 1st cutoff date set by Wembley officials and the NFL

I have my fingers crossed that the standoff doesn't go that long into the summer.
