Imperfect Pairs

For the last four nights I have been entering, once again, in the feeders for the Grosvenor finals.

I have been waiting for these specific qualifiers for months as they are for entry to the Cardiff Classic in two weeks time.

I have not fared too well in the $5 qualifiers to the $100 Friday night qualifiers so far.

This evening was my final chance to make it for this week and I was beaten badly.

I was dealt a pair of Queens. These are my favourite hole cards to be dealt so I wasn't going to fold them. I ended up going all-in against another player and he turned over 88.

The luck was riding with him as he ended up getting a 5, 6, 7 and 9 on the board to make his straight.

Despite promising myself I wouldn't rebuy, I felt compelled to overcome this bad beat and deposited another $5 into the table and had another 2,000 chips to play with.

A while later I was dealt J J and went with it. I went head to head with a player holding A K and he made another King and Ace on the board.

I gave up after that.

There is still another week to go. If I don't qualify to the final for next Friday I may be tempted to have one last shot at it by entering the qualifier itself and pay the $100 and hope to win my seat in the event.
