Two In A Row

I have set my sights on winning a satellite tournament on Blue Square Poker so I can play in a live tournament in and around the UK.

The current qualifiers they have is for the Blackpool Bonanza during the first weekend of May.

The site have $5 qualifiers for the Friday night qualifers that cost $105 so I have been entering the nightly qualifiers hoping to make entry to the final to get to Blackpool.

I'm not sure why I am even attempting Blackpool as it is miles away from me and getting there will be a challenge. In fact, the challenge of getting there and sitting at the table is making me pursue this adventure even more. I don't expect to get to Blackpool and win the tournament I am just taking part for the experience of it all. Winning would be a bonus.

The qualifiers to the finals have around 11 to 13 players in them. It is usually later in the week when the tournaments generate enough interest as Monday and Tuesday qualifiers seem to get cancelled due to lack of entrants.

In yesterday's game I came 2nd. The first place won the $105 entry and second place won $55. So I made something back from my game.

Then I entered tonight's game and came 2nd yet again after being chip leader for the majority of the tournament. This time, however, I ended up making $60 for my place.

I have enough in my account to pay for the $105 buy-in for tomorrow night but I don't think it's worth the risk to my bankroll to attempt to enter unless I qualify through the $5 satellites. I have proved that I can contend for a place near the top so shall continue playing the way I am and hope I manage to make it to the Friday finals in upcoming weeks.

There are numerous Grosvenor events taking place this year in places like London, Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea and Walsall. The ones that are standing out for an ideal venue for me are in July and November at the Cardiff Grosvenor which is a ten minute drive from my house.

I will win a seat in one of the Grosvenor festivals this year, it's just going to be a matter of where and when!
