Three Strikes

I had a go at a satellite to win entry in the Paddy Power $50,000 guaranteed tournament tonight.

The sit 'n' go table was $4 to enter and the winner of the nine seated game was given the $37 entry fee for the game at 8.45pm.

I finished second in the game and was a little miffed that when I was dealt a pair of Aces my computer froze. Out of all the times it could have went wrong for me it did so at the worst possible time.

With that defeat in mind I decided to play one more game and finished third so called the quest off and went and had a rest whilst listening to the radio.

I woke up; and leafed through the issue of World Poker Tour Magazine that I had bought in the week and there was an article about satellite tournaments. I read the piece and decided that I should give myself one more shot at qualifying and signed up.

The game was good and I had a healthy chip lead early on and continued to use it to my advantage with some big raises and bullied my opponents off.

I ended up proving the adage of 'third time lucky' by winning the game and being added to the ever increasing list of contenders to walk away with the first prize of $13,500.
