Come in, Number 3

Firstly, there has been many things going on that I wanted to write about but things with more priority have made me have a dilemma over what to write about first.

Even tonight I made matters a little worse for myself by coming second in the BetFred Poker Premier League. So it is here that will be given tonight's focus.

The Premier League kicked off last night at 8.30 and is running for the next four weeks. Each game awards the top 40 finishers with points and they go towards placement on a leader board. The top three players each week win BetFred poker chips and the overall winner after the month gets a poker table. Not only that, the top 30 places overall will receive entry in to a grand final where each person is guaranteed a share of $2,000 prize pool. Let's also not forget that the top 20 places each night get paid the daily prize pool.

Yesterday night I finished 40th so missed out on getting anything by 20 places. I did, however, get a point for participating. I think I played well and was even first, second and third for a majority of the first hour and a half until I was getting short stacked and decided to get a little too aggressive. It didn't pay off.

I managed to turn things around in game two. I kept a steady pace throughout and by the second hour I was in fourth place. I made a phone call to my friend, Miguel to tell him where I was placed and he advised me to keep fixed on that position and not try and aim any higher. Eventually, I ended up in the final four and was third and managed to knock the second placed player for a few chips and took his place. Then, possibly after an attack of frustration, the 3rd placed player went all-in. I folded leaving the chip leader to call him. And then there were two.

The final hand was me having a King and a Queen and going all-in. The other guy's hole cards were weaker than mine but as luck would have it (for him anyway!) he hit a pair of sevens and I was left with the $118 prize for the place.

As I had one point for yesterday's game it was added to the 18 points I made tonight (17 for 2nd and 1 point for entering) and am now sitting 3rd in the overall leader board with 19 points.

Roll on game 3!
